Now Playing: Boards Of Canada - Inferno

I really didn't think Boards Of Canada would ever release an another album after Tomorrow's Harvest. To be honest, I didn't think that album was all that great. Maybe by that point, I came to expect too much from them. Maybe I should revisit it...

Anyways, I was very surprised and excited to learn that a new one was on its way. I pre-ordered it the instant I saw it come available. I started listening to it on streaming before the album arrived, of course, but I've been taking it in slow, small doses. In a word: it's very fucking good. I know that's more than one word. I've got 2 more words for you: fuck you.

I took the day off work this morning because I (once again) got shitty sleep and felt a head cold coming on. After sleeping the morning away, I decided it was the perfect time to break out this beauty. Naturally, the artwork and design does not disappoint. And hiding within the booklet was a flexidisc in the shape of a hexagon, which they call a hexidisc. What a nice little bonus! I can't remember the last time I've owned or even seen one of these. It would've been as a child in the 80s, which I believe is when this recording was made, appropriately enough. The song itself is surreal and experimental, feels like it could've been made today- I'll have to dig into the origins of it.

I'm loving this album more and more with each listen. It looks, feels and plays just like them, but it feels and sounds fresh to me. Thank you, BOC! I've been needing something like this lately.
