While doom-scrolling through BlueSky this morning, I came across a number of posts of people playing records by The Fall, via the hashtag #FallFriday. Well I've been a rabid Fall fan since my early teens- starting with the collection Palace of Swords Reversed, then moving onto I Am Kurious Oranj, then... well, every cassette and CD I could get my hands on. In more recent years, I made more of a push to collect their vinyl. But let's face it- trying to collect ALL of The Fall in any format is probably impossible. Which is actually one of the things I like about them- their discography is so vast, that I am constantly discovering old albums of theirs that I either missed or didn't appreciate at the time. Like "The Unutterable" and even "The Wonderful and Frightening World Of The Fall".
So in honor of #FallFriday, I started off with this collection I had of early Fall, called "Container Drivers". I'm generally not a huge fan of their earliest stuff, so I like having a collection like this to compile the best of all that.

Next up is "I Am Kurious Oranj", which was my first introduction to a more modern lineup of The Fall. I remember seeing the video for "New Big Prinz" on 120 Minutes and just being captivated. Who were all these crazy ballet dancers flailing around? What the hell IS this?!

Now Playing: The Fall - I Am Kurious Oranj
I was absolutely hooked. I bought this reissue a few years ago, and had forgotten how cool it looked- AND that it contained a copy of the original playbill for "I Am Curious, Orange" by Michael Clark & Company with The Fall!

Well I've definitely got some more Fall records I could play right now, but maybe I'll just stop with these two- and save the rest for future Fall Fridays!
