What better a place to "reanimate" my cassette collection than Re-Animated Records in La Mesa? Selling old formats is kind of their thing. If I ever completely throw up my hands and start collecting CDs, VHS, Blurays, DVDs, etc, I know this will be my one stop shop.
Although I came primarily for the cassettes, I wound up even more excited about some of the vinyl I found:
dope-ass green splatter vinyl limited edition Alien Sex Fiend, with 2 creepy postcards of him
dope-ass picture disc of a Julian Cope interview
Ex Hex limited edition vinyl, also dope-ass
As far as the cassettes go, I did pick up some good stuff there as well
M/A/R/R/S - Pump Up The Volume, which I have owned on vinyl since I was a teen, but for some reason I need it on cassette
The Long Ryders - 10-5-60, which I also own on vinyl, so why? Because cassette!
Howard Jones - Dream Into Action, which I know for a fact doesn't hold up today, but I owned this on cassette as a boy and it's part of my DNA in a way that I won't go into here and now haha
Robyn Hitchcock's "Eye", which is hooked into my 90s nostalgia. I remember liking this a lot back in the day, and I don't think it's available on streaming... I could be wrong, but I don't feel like checking right now
a random Kitaro cassette because I like new age now, but generally not enough to pay more than $2 for it
I would've pulled more from the store, but I had to pee so much it hurt, so I had to cut it short. Which is probably for the better, anyway. Can't wait to start digging into this stuff!
